Learn More About What Drives Us

  • The garden is located on Peaceful Belly Farm where a gravel lot had been for years. the ground was compacted and tough and the only thing that could grow there was goat heads and cars.

We transformed the lot with years of clover planting, compost, and new plants to build back up a biologically diverse and thriving layer.

We created it with a layout of what a backyard could look like. With dimensions of what an average backyard is. We planned easy to put together raised bed boxes and sprinkler systems that can be built by anyone with the motivation but designed to be less intensive than a full-time job. All you have to do it turn them on.

From this haven that has been growing for years we have been able to introduce and cultivate the concept of stewardship around food and learning.

  • We are prioritizing providing different community events like:

    • Saturday Classes:

      • free classes with an open-ended lesson plan type design. Come to the communty garden any time between 11am -2:30 pm on Saturdays and we will have art and education activities for you and your kid to enjoy and learn together.

    • Camps:

      • Summer camps are an indepth dive into experiential education where kids can build community and really learn lots about different aspects of environmentalism and art.

    • Community Dinners:

      • an opportunity to reconnects with your food as we band together to harvest and prepare a dinner together. We will then get to enjoy our time together and appreciate the land that feeds us as we hang out, eat, do crafts, and reflect on our happy day.

    • Food forest & a Safe space:

      • We have prioritized creating a hidden oasis on the farm where kidds can find space to find wonder, curate a space where they feel right at home, and feel connected to the land.

      • We have built and planted a forest of poplars where there are hidey places and nooks where set up alone time book reset or a jungle to jump around in.

    • Field trips:

      • We love having kids come out to the farm for our schedualed and planed events. BUT we love when communities/ schools/ groups/ parties that wan tto come out with their own community and have a more tailored event. We will have some field day openings posted soon but if you have a date and hopes for what you would like to do please email community@polumbolum.org

  • If your are hoping to get involved in an experience way we have a calendar with all of our events for this year posted. we will be updating and keeping that calendar up to date so that if things get canceled or new things are added you will be in the know!

If you have been coming to our events and want to get even more involved, we would absolutely LOVE having you out for volunteer opportunities as well> We will post those as they arise!

  • In the picturesque surroundings of Caldwell Idaho, our valley craves a sanctuary where individuals, regardless of their race, age, financial status, spiritual inclinations, or gender identities, can feel valued and encouraged to connect with nature. It's a place where they can immerse their hands in the fertile soil, learning to work together to plant, nurture, grow, prepare, and share nourishment with each other.

At Peaceful Belly Farm, we are fortunate to possess such a space enriched with the necessary facilities, expertise, and resources. Our aim is to expand our table of inclusivity, contributing to the dismantling of barriers that divide us.

  • We have witnessed firsthand how accessibility and education serve as powerful catalysts for transformation, not only in the relationships we have nurtured with individuals who have come to the community garden to immerse themselves in learning, but also in the very fabric of our existence at Polum Bolum.

We strive to create opportunities for outreach and giving kids who may not have access to these sorts of educational offerings. We are cooperating with the migrant workers in the valley to help fill these classes with their children, and opt for classes camps and food for free to create accessibility. if you would like to help support children and communities that perhaps couldn’t afford some of our more expensive classes/ camps please donate what you can so we can give more spaces in cool classes to kids who would cherish the opportunity.

Each interaction, each shared moment of curiosity brings us closer to understanding one another and the profound ties we share with our surroundings. It is within these relationships that we uncover how pivotal our connection to the land is—an ever-present foundation that underpins what we do.

    • We have learned through the happiness the garden has brought us about what we want to expand and spread through our community. we have received overwhelming amounts of love and appreciation from the accessible classes and community events we host at the organic garden. This has become foundational to how we format our classes workshops and camps through polum bolum.

At Polum Bolum, our community garden is more than just a patch of earth; it's a whimsical wonderland where the spirit of the land chuckles and the plants gossip! It's here that we gather not merely to learn but to romp together, celebrating our interconnectedness with the soil, the sun, and each other.

Imagine sharing knowledge like seeds—each nugget sown blooms into friendships that intertwine like climbing vines, creating a tapestry of understanding, respect, and joyful chaos.

Join us for our Community Dinners!

Bring your little ones and join us in the heart of the farm, where you'll learn a fresh recipe amidst a vibrant group of individuals!

The meals are intimately connected to our weekly garden yield, offering you an immersive experience in understanding the seasonal rhythm of growing and cooking food. We're all about teamwork here, and you'll be knee-deep in the action! You'll get to pick your own veggies for the meal, with our friendly farm hands showing you the ropes. Then, it's off to the wash station to get them clean and ready. Our chefs can't wait to show you how to whip up a tasty dish in our kitchen. As the day concludes, we'll relish our hard-earned meal, watching the sun dip below the picturesque Sunnyslope valley.

It's a perfect night to share with your little ones! Our aspiration goes beyond serving a delightful meal; we aim to provide an educational experience, nurturing inquisitive minds with a farm-to-fork journey. The sheer joy of little hands getting involved in gardening can create an enchanting atmosphere.  We will share invaluable farming and gardening insights, novel recipes, and innovative ways to use vegetables that may be unfamiliar to you. We're eager to present an alternative lens to view these meals; a transformative journey that reveals the beautiful dance of farming and cooking through changing seasons.

  • This year, we've set our sights on transforming our community garden into a magical playground for kids! We truly think it's important for the youngsters to learn where their food comes from and feel empowered to be involved with the process. We envision our community garden as a space where young minds are motivated to dig into fresh discoveries and uncover the wonders that nature holds.

This year we are focused on continuing free classes with more depth of play and interest to create a truly exiting schedule of classes and educational opportunities.
