Peaceful Belly offers a 35-week victory garden intern course. In this course, you will gain knowledge about how to grow your own vegetables. Students start with a bare piece of land and plant a huge, plentiful organic garden, run and maintain it, harvest the food, and bring it to the kitchen together.
Course description, fees, and commitment: Learn how to start seed in the greenhouse, directly seed in the garden, compost and make compost tea, build fences, create an irrigation system, garden planning, trellising, equipment maintenance, succession planting, pest control, crop rotation, companion planting, weeding, harvesting, cooking, preserving, and much more.
The course is 35 weeks long and costs $600 per person or $900 per couple. Payments can be made in installments. The class lasts between 2 to 3 hours each Wednesday evening. Each student is required to spend additional hours every week in the garden doing maintenance including: weeding, watering, and learning the secrets of the soil. Classes start in March and run until October. Food grown in the garden will be shared among students. You will grow almost every vegetable that can grow in the Treasure Valley and a lot of it. It’s like joining a CSA, but better!
Location : We teach this class on our farm located in the Dry Creek Valley. If you are interested in this course, please send Josie an email about yourself, your interests, and why you would like to enroll in this class. Contact Josie at firstname.lastname@example.org
